Carlo D'Alessio will unveil a new masterwork inspired by the skies of Lake Tahoe, "Away," as well as other new works from his Eden studies, at Art for the Home Gallery on Memorial Day Weekend. The artist will be at the gallery from 3 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Carlo's signature technique is to layer acrylic paint with varnish, layer upon layer, creating a 3-D effect. D'Alessio is well-known for his sky paintings, which use his distinctive method of layering to produce a heavenly light filtered through mist. A fabulous talent, this is one artist you will want to meet.

D'Alessio's ability was recognized early in his life. At age 12 he was accepted into the School of Music and Art in New York City. This is the school after which the book and movie "Fame" were modeled. He went on to study at Fordham University, New York's School of Visual Arts, and the renowned Art Students' League.

Now at age 52, after a lifetime as a professional artist, D'Alessio's unique hyper-realistic and surrealistic paintings are collected worldwide. Many viewers think his paintings are something photographic, but Carlo's exceptional painter's skill is far more than photography could ever achieve. In addition to his sky paintings, other Tahoe works include "Tea at Two," an extraordinary night painting of the Emerald Bay Teahouse, "Tallac," and "Eve," a spectacular figurative painting set in Tahoe's pristine lake water, which was unveiled last fall at Art for the Home Gallery.

Located at Ski Run Marina, 900 Ski Run Blvd., Art for the Home Gallery features the work of the finest regional artists in two galleries.
